TOFW {2009}

I had to specify {2009} because I plan on going every year from now on!!!! Time Out for Women was a refreshing, uplifting, rejuvinating, experience with lots of humor and the music of Kenneth Cope. I was laughing constantly, but the speakers' messages were real and applicable to women's (atleast mine) lives.

Some things I enjoyed and need to work on...

Friday night was the best!
Brad & Debi Wilcox

  • Humor keeps things in perspective
  • If you can laugh at it you can live with it

John Bytheway-delightful!

  • be delightful- He told of a story of Donna & Ken Schaub who they met on a cruise and all Donna kept saying was than Ken was so delightful and so fun to be with. Funny thing was I actually know the Schaubs-small world. Note to self: be delightful.
  • Remember Him-pray to have the Holy Ghost with you every morning and anytime throughout the day when you are feeling despaired.
  • Appreciate. Don't expect which eventually turns to demanding.
  • You can be a physical wreck, but you don't have to be an emotional wreck too!
  • This one I have jotted down, but I am not sure it is something he actually said, but it is something that was pressing on my mind so I wrote it down... Be the kind of mom your kids will want to be like and admire.

We had a crazy and fun late night trying to navigate downtown Phoenix and all of the one way streets, trying not to get hit by the lightrail, running a red light, treats at Sonic, and some girl talk.

Saturday

Emily Watts

  • Give the kids time to ripen like fruit.
  • What if the "fruit" of parenting is you not how the kids turn out??!?
  • He does not forsake us.

Emily Freeman

  • more abundance
  • Make the most of today-give it what we can-do what we can
  • be less critical and more understanding
  • "be there"-give up your seat or your day whatever it takes

Wendy Ulrich

  • it's worth doing badly rather than not doing at all-while learning to do it better.
  • The differences between sin and weakness

Chris Belcher-They saved the best for last.

My favorite. A women with trials I could not even imagine. A life with an eye cancer that has taken her sight and that she will fight the rest of her life. Yet, a great sense of humor. Her stories were hilarious. She is hilarious. I felt a great sense of her spirit and strength and faith that all will be well. I only wish I had half her strength and ability to find humor in all things-even very hard trying things.

  • His power and grace is more than ours. Depend on it.
  • HOPE-Whoso believeth in God hope cometh of faith. Can hope for a better world.
  • Laugh and humor. This lady was one of the funniest ladies I have ever known(of). She is blind and had tons of funny stories that had to do with her blindness 1) going to a breakfast with friends without her eye in 2)going to sit on a toilet and a little girl was already on it 3)a deacon that had to help her to the podeum to give the closing prayer at church 4)after she lost her sight people asking her if she had learned sign language yet so she could communicate
  • We can't be "airlifted" out of trials
  • It is worth every struggle to sit at the right hand of God

P.S. she has no sight left she only wears the glasses because it looks better:)

Wasn't it great?? I also plan on going every year now! And I loved Kris Belcher too, so funny, but so inspiring!! The one where she said her husband teases her about leaving a plunger in the toilet... oh we laughed till we cried. It was awesome.
