Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

I kept telling Scott that we needed to video Tate when he sings his ABC's and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star because it won't be long before he can sing it more clearly. So, this weekend I actually used the video feature on my camera for the first time to try to get it on film. It's funny at first he thinks that he is getting his picture taken.

Memorial Day Weekeend 2008

This weekend we went up to Scott's parents cabin along with 4 of Scott's brothers and sisters and their families. The first night we got there Claire was super smiley and kept doing this funny thing with her tongue where she stuck it out really far and it was super pointy and she curled it up like she was trying to touch her nose. It was hard to catch it on camera but it was making us laugh for a long time!

It was raining all night when we got there Friday and then some on Saturday morning and was pretty chilly. On Sunday we packed a lunch and were planning on going to the top of the mountain to the watch tower, but the snow melt and the rain caused the roads to be exteremely muddy and they closed the road just as we got about half way. Yep, I said snow! Snow at the end of May-crazy!!! On our way down we stopped to play in the snow, but we were rushed out by the forest ranger so she could close the road.Claire played with her cousin Abby who is 13 days older than her. They both wanted the same toys and it was fun to see them play.Monday we took a walk along a sidewalk that a developer in the area has made. It was a pretty walk along the creeks. This was one of the pretty spots along the way.
Of course there was lots of eating, four wheeling, napping and Wii playing. A funny thing happened on the way home. Scott was playing one of his car games with the girls where they had to guess what animal Scott was describing. Scott said "This is a really big white animal that lives in Antarctica", to which I said "I do not think that anything lives in Antarctica" and then Macey chimed in and said "the only thing that lives in Antarctica is penguins and scientists". I thought it was so funny, like "scinentists" are a species. That one kept me laughing for a while. They have been studying this kind of stuff in school so she had heard that somewhere. FYI-I double checked myself last night and and there are some things that live there-a wingless fly, plankton and other small sea life and small amounts of plant life, and then several months out of the year there are scientists that live there and study the life there so, Macey was right about the scientist part. It was a nice weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We look forward to spending some more time up there this summer since we are not really going on any vacations.

We finished the weekend off with some home made ice cream at the Scott's for Kayla and Noah's birthdays.

Great students

For the last day of school the kids had an awards assembly. Emmy got "Character of the Year" which is basically student of the year. Go Emmy!

Macey was on the Principals honor roll and student of the month for March! Yeah Macey! Ok, I better go pack :-)!!!!

School's out for the summer!!!!

On the move

The other day Tate jumped on the neighbors little bike that has training wheels, like he always does, but this time he could actually peddle it. So we decided to throw a helmet on him and let him go. He was so enthralled with the peddles that he did not watch where he was going so he still needed some help. He just wants to grow up so fast and do everything his sisters do and he is on his way!

Claire is working on crawling. She can get up on all fours and is so close to doing it. She entertains her self for a long time now because she can basically get wherever she wants by scooting and rolling all around the family room. The only bad part is now I have spit up spread all over instead of being able to contain it to the blanket. She is on her way!

End of school parties

I can not express how happy I am that this is the last week of school! It's pretty annoying that the last 2 days are 1/2 days and they are also having an awards assembly on Friday so now I have to add that to the schedule.

Anyways, it's party time! Today Emmy's class had an end of the year party. It was a Hawaiin Luau. They did the limbo, hula hooped, painted Hawaiin pictures and had smoothies. We have loved Emmy's teacher, Mrs. Wright, who was Ms. Collum when Macey had her. Emmy will miss what was supposed to be her last day tomorrow. Instead, she will be at the dentist getting a whole bunch of cavities filled under sedation.

Notice Emmy and Jaden posing in the front of the class picture? No one told them to do that they did that all on their own, I thought it was funny. The class is in front of a quilt that they all made for Mrs. Wright for teacher appreciation week which was just a couple of weeks ago.

After school all of the playgroup families came over to our house to swim and play to celebrate the end of the year! We have had so much fun playing all year and they are on to 1st grade next year!

Diamondbacks game

Saturday night we went to the D-backs game. For some unknown reason they did not turn the air on and it was sooo HOT the whole time. Our van said it was 104 on the way to the game! So, besides that we always enjoy a Dbacks game. Of course I mostly enjoy the food although I did resist getting the usual cotton candy. It was bobble head night and that night it was Chris Young. Unfortunately they lost 3-2 to the Tigers, but there was a Trace Adkins concert after the game to enjoy. I was surprised how many songs he sang and I enjoyed it although the accoustics were not great. Claire crashed in the 7th inning and Scott went home after the game because he was not interested in the concert at all. Scott took some pictures on his cell phone, but we have not gotten them off of it yet (and I am not sure we ever will) so I figured I should just post without the pictures.

I spent all of Sunday in bed sick. My head felt like it was going to explode! So I still have the whole sinus thing going on, but I have to keep on keeping on with an extremely busy week before the holiday weekend. We've got dentist appointments galore, hair appts, school parties, playgroup party here, watching my sisters kids, house cleaning somewhere in there and packing to do before we leave Friday to Scott's parents cabin for the whole weekend. So, not sure how much posting I will be doing this week, but I will be posting about the weekend when we get back for sure. Can't wait to get up to some cooler weather for a few days and relax (hopefully I get to do some of that)!

Sick days

So, we have all been sick around here. It's not a big deal just a sinus/cold thing that starts with a sore throat from all of the sinus flow. It started with Claire, me and now Macey started with it yesterday and came home from school early and is still home today. So she is laying around watching TV with Tate. I came to check on them and this is what I found. I love these moments when they are getting along on their own. Also, notice Tate has no shirt on and a truck in each hand. Tate has been insisting on taking his shirt off every day. Are boys just born with this instinct that shirts are annoying or what?!?!

Fence Friends

Like Kyle, we too have friends over the fence. These are our neighbors to the East, the Bernhardts. Us adults usually communicate over the phone or in the front yard, but the kids do alot of it on the fence. This is usually going on after play time is over and on Sundays, when the kids are not supposed to be playing. We don't mind so much, but I know my neighbors are too nice to say if it bothers them so I try to limit it. With the sanbox/bridge that Scott's parents built the kids for Christmas (which they play on everyday, thank you) the kids can look over the fence all of the time and they do. I am not sure if they were aware of what they were signing up for when they said "OK" to the sandbox going up, but the kids love it!

Emmy's Caterpillar

Emmy came home from the cabin this weekend with a caterpillar in a cup. On Sunday I told her she should let it go because they do not like living in a cup. She went to check on it and thought it was gone at first, but no, it decided it was time to be a butterfly. This after I told her that black fuzzy caterpillars did not turn into butterflies (I have no idea why I thought that). Anyways it has been in it's chrysalis and one day Emmy will go check on it and it will be gone. The kids have been learning about this at school and have their own caterpillars at school that are trapped in a cup until they turn into a butterfly and then they let them go. Hopefully it works because she has been carrying the cup all around until I convinced her to leave it one place.

Summer Movies

There was a mix up with my $ for the Summer Harkins Movies through my kids school and now I am glad I did not sign up for them. My mom gave me a flier about the Gateway Theatres on Signal Butte and Baseline and their summer movie program and it's FREE!!! It is also closer so I am excited that we can do that when we feel like it this summer. They also have 2 different showtimes 10:00 AM and 12:30PM. They are not the exact same movies as Harkins, but there are still plenty that my kids have not seen. Here is the link to check it out!

Mother's Day Dinner

Last night Me, my mom and my sister went out for our annual Mother's Day meal. Last year it was breakfast and this year it was dinner at the Golden Corral. Nothing like a buffet! A lot of people do not like buffets, but I think they are great for large groups because there is always something for everyone. I had Claire because Scott has the 3 other kids up at his parents cabin. Ahhhhh. I had given her a biter biscuit which is so messy but it entertained her for a while so I didn't mind. We sat there and chatted and laughed for several hours, it was a good time. Thanks mom!

Evening swim

Scott came with a pool today. It is one of those little ones that has a filter so you can always leave it filled up, but it's not so deep. Scott is filling it up as we speak and the kids could not resist jumping in even though they were all shivering within 1o minutes. Hopefully it will bring nothing but joy and entertainment all summer!

New Wal-Mart

I needed some things so, of course, I had to check out our new Wal-Mart today for it's Grand Opening(on Rittenhouse and Ocotillo). I saw several people I know that had the same idea! I love it. It is very spacious (maybe this is the spacious building of our times? sometimes I feel like it is), clean and stocked, and very kid/baby friendly. One thing to warn you about though is the bathrooms back by the Site to Store pick-up have been switched from what the other Wal-Marts are. I saw several women go into the men's bathroom and I almost did, too! In the very nice bathrooms there is a little kids sink and the diaper changing area is great...there are covers for the changing table, hooks for diaper bags/purses, a bench where Tate waited and a trash can with a lid. And the best part was there was a little kids seat that I could strap Tate into while I went to the bathroom so he did not play all over the ground like he usual does! I know it is so ridiculous that I was so excited about the bathrooms, but with kids I frequent them a lot and they have improved them 200%! Yeah for Wal-Mart and it is great it is so close now!

Fun for FHE

Last night we had a BBQ at the park with some friends and we all grilled up hamburgers, chicken and hot dogs. We ate while we chatted and then we played some wiffle ball (mostly the men) and some sand volleyball. We enjoyed spending some time with the Jorgensen's before they move to Alabama and we will be sad to see them go. We got kind of got a late start so the time was not as long as we wanted, but we had fun and the weather was BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely love the weather at about 6:00pm right now. The sun is going down and it is the perfect temperature. Good times! Sorry I know this is lame with no pics, but I was a little rushed and forgot the camera.

Time for a pool?

Ahhh. It was Saturday, the house was still clean, Scott had Tate on the Fathers and Sons campout, Claire was napping and the house was still clean. The girls were playing outside and of course had to turn the hose on. I was ok with that and then I checked on them and they were filling up this...

So I said fill up this if you want to get wet....

Yes, that is a trash can and they were having a blast. Luckily it was a fairly new one and hadn't had any gross trash in it, but they did have to dump the rocks and dirt out of it so that they could fill it up and "swim" in it.

Card Club

Card Club was at my house on Friday hence the frustration on Thursday. A piece of my irritation was from my downstairs bathroom. I had been trying to paint it for 3 weeks, going through 3 quarts of paint trying to get the right color and when I was in the middle of painting I stopped to be a nice mom (for once) and help Tate with a toothbrush he saw in the medicine cabinet and the paint spilled all over the carpet, cabinet and linoleum. This was after the paint was bubbling and as I pulled it off it pulled off the texture so I was also needing to have my brother come and fix it. That bathroom has given me nothing but trouble and I swear it is only 8sq. feet. Ugggh.

Moving on, Card Club was a fun time and for once I had everything pretty much ready on time. These where the desserts I made for the kids. I had been waiting for a chance to make these after I saw them in the Family Fun magazine. They were super easy just took a while because I did so many. You just put marshmallows on a stick (the picture had them on popsicle sticks) and did them in those colored candy melts that you can get at the craft stores. Then I twisted them around to spin off the excess and them dipped them in sprinkles. I also did purple ones. Here they are setting up in the freezer for 15 minutes.The theme for the cards this month was child birthday and here is my card which pales in comparison to the card that was voted the best.

Kindergarten Celebration

Last Thursday (5/1) Emmy had her "Kindergarten Celebration" which was a program of songs that showed what they had learned all year. It was a little on the lengthy side, but still cute. It was funny, after it was over Emmy said "Mom that was not fun". It was a "celebration" after all and I am sure the teachers kept telling them it would be fun, but this was not Emmy's idea of fun. Here is Emmy that night with her friend Jaden who is also our neighbor. They have enjoyed eachother in the same class all year. This was the only picture I could get of the night because once again the shortest child was in the back row and I could not really see her most of the time, the rest of the time the shots were too dark for my camera.
