School Pictures 2008

These {lovely} school pictures came home today. I really didn't want to buy any of these, but I had to buy the smallest package for way more money than they are worth just to get a class picture, which I think is a must have, because I still like looking back at mine remembering the kids. Of course the pictures are as cute as they possibly can be because they are of my cute kids!

The Do

Several people requested to see my hairdo after my "would you rather" post. I was not trying to say my hair is all great or anything I am just enjoying it right now. I just learned how to blow it out with a round brush and realized the importance of product, which in turn, has resulted in great volume and also this horrid acne. No one asked to see the acne, but I thought I would show what I was talking about.

Note: taking self portraits is hard! I am not sure why I look dead, but how can I look any better under the circumstances? Seriously, you would deal with this in order to have cute hair?

Now the hairdo.....The back (the dark color is actually my natural color that just keeps getting darker and darker I just don't get the highlights done there)..... The side....

How to Get Rid of Grasshoppers

As I was bomabarded by the dozens of grasshoppers (which I hate) as I drove in and out of my garage today I remembered I had this video and I thought it was pretty funny. He kept chasing them all the way into the street. Go Tate!

Walking

My chunker chunk is walking. Well, she is my chunkiest baby by far so that is what I call her. She gets herself up and can go about 10 steps. I am not sure there will be a clear cut disinction between walking and not walking so I am calling it walking. She is doing it more and more every day! It will be a while before I let her walk around the stores by the cart or anything so for now that is all she really needs to do!

B-I-N-G-O

Last Friday {10/24}, (can you tell I am just now emptying my camera?) we went to BINGO night at the school. Tate was on the stage looking at the prizes and was really eyeing this set of Matchbox cars so when it came time to win those I really chaneled the energy and won them for him! The only BINGO I got for the night and I was so excited that it was the cars that Tate wanted because they entertained him for the rest of the night and he really needed more cars :-)! The last round was blackout for 4 movie tickets. Macey would have won it, but due to a technical difficulty with the beans rolling around, we did not realize she actually should have had them all covered, utnil they were checking the other balckouts. So she just got a wristband for the school's fall festival in November. Oh well, she was more excited about the wristband anyways, but I wanted the tickets to go see High School Musical 3, oh I mean take the girls to see it.
Of course we had to have popcorn ,root beer and cookies.

Mini Bonfire

Last Thursday {10/23} Scott fired up the fire pit and the kids roasted marshmallows, one of the joys of the fall/winter. We couldn't find the sticks for the marhsmallows so we had to improvise with a bucket handle, I know, how does that work? Not very well. This was Scott's picture because he said that I am never in the pictures.

Daddy's Little Helper

Scott was out trimming the bushes and Tate said that he was going to go get his "see saw". That is what he calls this saw that is actually our neighbors. It makes noise and vibrates so as soon as Scott started up the trimmer Tate had to get his and "help". It was so funny becuase he kept hitting the bushes with the saw and followed Scott all around the yard, but of course he was not interested in the clean up!

Jack-O-Lanterns

Last night for FHE we carved our pumpkins, and by we, I mean Scott and I. The kids quickly lost interest with the difficulty and the detail, there really was not much they could do. I think next year we will go with painting a pumpkin...it will be funner for them and it will last longer. It is hard to photograph Jack-o-lanterns, but here you go. I did the pumpkin witch and Scott did the cat face.

Would You Rather....

Have a cute hairdo that people often compliment and have acne that is reminiscent of junior high
OR
Have a product free hairdo that is so so and breakouts that can pretty much be covered up with make-up
?
I am really enjoying my hairdo right now. I have had a similar haircut several times during my life and I think it looks good on me, but for some reason I always grow it out. Now I am figuring it out....when my hair is shorter I have to use more products and blow dry it for it to look decent, and it touches my face more, as well as I touch it and my face more often resulting in seriously bad acne. I am just trying to figure out what I prefer cute hair and acne or so so hair that is mostly in ponytails. Almost 30 and still fighting acne, no not a pimple here and there, whole face hurts all over acne. Ugghh!

Fair Fish

Scott likes to play those fair games where people usually just throw money away, but Scott is one of those people they hate, he wins the biggest prize after spending very little money! Last year or the year before Scott won the kids a huge dog and a huge Strawberry Shortcake. Well, for the last year (or two) I have been begging to throw them away since they take up so much space and it is not like the kids were playing with it or anything {I hate stuffed animals...dirty, messy, pointless}. We finally snuck the Strawberry Shortcake out in the trash, so I prefaced this trip to the fair with "we will not be bringing home any of those huge stuffed animals so don't even try it". But Scott just could not resist the challenge so, instead of a huge stuffed animal he won the kids their own fish! Scott basically started a whole new pet system without even discussing it with me first! Because of course those fish could not stay in those little boring tanks and all by themselves, we would definately have to get a new tank and more fish and all of the goodies that come with it (that is what Scott was thinking anyways). The girls have been begging me for hamsters and I told them that when they could keep their room clean for a month we could get 2 hamsters and that has not happened yet so I feel the same way with the fish. No fish. Well, I told the girls on the way home from the fair that the fish will probably just die because everyone knows that is just what goldfish do, die. Cruel I know, but I like to keep it real. So of course, last night Macey went to feed her fish and she was horrified to see that her fish had died! She was whaling and crying for a while. It was sad, but I tried to warn her. The kind of funny thing is that we all thought that Emmy's fish would die first because her fishes water was all dirty, but nope Macey's croaked first. The first thing that Emmy said to me when she woke up was that her fish was still alive! Oh, little does she know any day now hers will be next to be flushed down the toilet! I know it is a much bigger deal to them and I did try to comfort her. I guess they learn the "death" lesson some time I am just glad it was just a little fish this time.

Corn Maze

Scott had been promising to take the kids to the corn maze for a while now and last night we finally took them. We went to the one on power between Elliot and Warner. {pictures to come later, they are on Scott's camera in his truck} It was not busy at all since it was a weeknight. There was a bouncy house, sandbox, animals, pizza shaped garden, corn maze, lots of hay and for extra you could ride a train or some pedal go cart things. We pretty much had everything to ourselves. There were 6 punches throughout the corn maze and after about a half an hour they came out without finding any of them. The guy told them where the closest one was and Scott and Macey went in to get atleast one punch on their card. The corn maze was huge (I am not sure what I was expecting), that is it on the left! Afterwards we went to Chick-Fil-A for dinner where the kids redeemed their free kids meal cards from being on the Honor Roll. Although I was actually dreading all of the fried food (I usually don't even bat an eye at fried food) I was reminded that I should go there more often. You just can't beat the service. They refill your drinks for you, they are so polite, they let the kids trade in their toys for ice cream, they have a play area Claire can play in, they have plenty of staff so you never wait, they have diapers and wipes if you need them (luckily I had my own because both kids needed a change while we were there), they have sanitizer and lotion in their bathroom, they had fresh flowers on each table, they have sanitizing wipes on the high chairs, they gave Tate a balloon and their chicken is yummy, especially with honey-yum!
Note: Kids can tie their own shoes.check. Yeah!!!! Claire is in Tate's room minus Tate and she slept all night last night. Now that she is used to the room we will move her from the pack n play to her crib tonight so we are well on our way! Yeah!!!

2 weeks {14 days}

These 2 last weeks have been the busiest weeks that I can remember in my life. Now we are going into "Fall Break" which will probably result in more like a "break down" for me. I am seriously surprised I have not gotten a migraine yet. I know that most of you probably regularly lead the kind of life that I had these past 2 weeks, but I just don't do well if I just go go go so I'm very surprised with myself. Here are some of the things that filled the last 2 weeks...

Bunco at my house which includes dinner for 16...............2 honor roll assemblies...............$1 entrance day at the fair............Activity Days..............2 half days for the kids............touch up paint..................painted a wall..............some laundry..........daily hygiene.....................make 13 cards.............go to card club......................detail dusting..............carpets cleaned...............kids ready for school................kids homework..............clean baseboards................home decor shopping-which consists of many trips/returns that revolve around naps and school time........make drapes-2 day project.......hang drapes......................2 parent teacher conferences.............watch my sisters kids......grocery shopping........General Conference..................re-arrange picture wall-new pictures still to come................. re-arranged/cleaned office-hasn't been working for a while.....usual cleaning (mopping, vacuuming, bathrooms, dishes, etc.)..........made some dinners........went to the dreaded library.......dinner at the in-laws................no naps/so tired........Emmy to a birthday party.....some workouts......clean fridge.....clean cupboards......wipe down walls....and that is all that I can remember!

Goals for Fall Break......girls learn to tie their own shoes (no they don't know how yet, just easier for me to do it, but no more).....Claire sleep through the night and moved into her crib in Tate's room. Those are the 2 main ones, trying to keep it low key, but if I feel so inclined there are several other projects I would love to work on (i.e. Christmas cards ideas, gift tags for November card club, organize and back up photos)

Totally Gross Yet, Cute at the Same Time

I don't know why I thought this was so funny. I heard some noise and came around the corner and found this. The girls had had some of the mint oreo dessert from bunco and the plates were on the top of the trash and Claire found them and was scraping it off and eating it. I am sure it was a yummy treat for her! Don't worry the plates were right on top so it is not like she really dug them out.
