She Won!

I was a little perplexed by Macey's expression as she approached the van after school today.  Nothing.  Not a hint of a win or a loss. Then she got in the van and said she won.  At first I thought they were playing a joke on me, but she said they told them the results before lunch so her excitement had worn off!
Yay!  Happy kids make a happy mom!

Keeping my Fingers Crossed

The posters have been made and hung...
The speech has been recorded...
The shirts were made and worn to school...

Now all there is left to do is to wait......

Wait until I pick the kids up after school where Macey will either run to the van with a huge smile or wiping away tears.  It's so nerve racking watching your kids put themselves out there and opening themselves up to disappointment, hurt and embarrassment.  It's all part of letting them grow up I guess.  No matter what happens today I know Macey will be fine because when she was asking to run for President I asked her what if she loses and she said that that would be okay since she was Vice President last year atleast she already had a turn.  Ahhhh {proud parent moment}No matter what happens with the election my baby is growing up and I am getting older.

I Told You So

I knew she would. And she did.
Claire gave herself a haircut.  Not wise for anyone.  Luckily the placement was not so bad so she will just be sporting a comb over until it grows out.  I am just hoping and praying it does not happen again because I am not sure she realizes the gravity of the situation.  She is just like my other little stylist Emmy who just laughs in the face of punishment.

1st Day of School {2010}

On the Road Again

The day before we headed home Scott and the 3 oldest kids along with the Watsons and the Clements went to Lagoon.  Once again I did not partake.  This is how Scott returned Tate to me.

The only story I got was he fell of a wall that was a foot high.  His face was mess with all of the scrapes and dry flaky skin from his sunburn from the week before at the beach.  Of course he is still all smiles.

This is a picture that Tate took of Scott at Taco Bell in some small town on the way home.

We drove home from Utah a different way than the usual route which takes you over the grand canyon and there is a foot bridge you can walk across.  Bridges are scary enough to drive across (for me) but to walk on this one had my palms sweating.  I was anxiety ridden basket case every second on that bridge, to say the least.

McKay Reunion {2010}

Tate adopted one of my mom's cousins sons as his new best friend.  Tate would cry and get upset every time we would get in our car.... that he was never going to see Brigham again and that he was going to miss him.  I can tell Brigham is such a good sweet boy because not once did I see him get annoyed by Tate or shoo him away although I am sure he wanted to.  He gave Tate as many hugs as he requested which was a lot-so sweet!  I love it that Tate has good role models to look up to.
Just some side notes about this boys family....10 kids-only stopped by a needed hysterectomy.  8 boys before they finally got 2 girls at the end.  All good kids raised on hard work and hard play.  aMaZinG family!
This is the water slide Saturday that wraps up the whole reunion.  Kids of all sizes and ages love it!  Unfortunately my cameras battery was low so I never got the pics of the men doing it but they did the usual distance contest to bang on their chests and show their manliness or their big guts I am not sure which one since the bigger gut to slide in gets you further.
Claire loved the slide and ran up the hills over and over to do it.  Of course there were plenty of older girls that just loved helping her out.  It was funny when everyone was quiet and getting ready to bless the food there were still a couple of kids on the slides and of course it was Claire having a good ole time going down the "adult" slide that they had just explained was for 9 and older.  Too funny!

My line of the family is in charge next year we look forward to it again next year for sure!

Macey {One Year Older}

Macey was kind of bummed to spend her birthday at a reunion, but hopefully it wasn't too bad.  We got her a giant cookie for a cake and then one of my mom's cousins found out Friday night that Saturday was her birthday and she went home and made her a cake and brought it to her on Saturday,  That was so nice of her and I know Macey loved getting the attention onher birthday.  That same cousin (actually my moms cousins wife but we are all family now:)) made Macey one of those knotted friendship bracelets with a little heart charm that said peace on it.
When we got back to Bear Lake everyone sang to her with the brownies for dessert.
